So, what do you think Facebook is all about? Your answer might be to stay connected with friends, strangers, relatives(not very often, ouch truth), but your answer is right but not 100%. With the major announcement of FB shop, Facebook has leaped forward towards bright eCommerce. This feature was announced by Mark Zuckerberg during the Livestream on 20th May 2020. It’s a great opportunity for small businesses as well as small social media marketing agency to make the most of it.

Here a shop would function on the profile or business’s page from where a customer can browse products. The shop will be supported by third parties, Shopify, BigCommerce, and others for easy payment, shipment, managing orders, etc. This was announced to help small businesses to survive in a crisis like Covid-19. The social media platform allowed small businesses to set up a digital storefront that will be available on Instagram and Facebook. According to Facebook the shop would be free and easy to use, allowing merchants to leap at eCommerce age.

The best thing is here with FB shop, businesses will be allowed to customize the looks and feel of the shop and choose products they want to feature. Here businesses can decorate stores with cover art and accent colors. Merchants will be able to connect with customers via Instagram, WhatsApp, or messenger to solve their queries, offer support, and lots more.

Currently Facebook has a captive audience of 2.6 billion monthly active users and 1.73 billion daily active users, so you can very well guess how well it can connect to small businesses. On each purchase, Facebook will charge a small fee and additional advertising which provides a lion’s share of Facebook’s fortune.

Let’s have a look at the words of Mr. Zuckerberg about FB shop, “I think this is particularly important right now because so many small businesses are moving online to deal with the economic fallout from Covid-19,” wrote Zuckerberg in the post. “As people are being told to stay home, physical storefronts are having a hard time staying open and millions of people are losing their jobs.

Further, Mark Zuckerberg further said, shortly Facebook will tag products in the feed so that users can easily click through for easy purchase.
